Reggio-Inspired, Emergent Learning
In the Reggio Emilia tradition, we see young children as capable and expressive. Their questions, play themes, and observations guide our curriculum.
Rather than worksheets or early academic pressure, learning unfolds through:
-
Open-ended provocations
-
Natural materials and loose parts
-
Sensory invitations
-
Storytelling and circle time
-
Artistic exploration
-
Cooperative play
Teachers observe closely and respond thoughtfully, allowing learning to emerge organically.

Hawk’s Nest Homeschool’s preschool program for children ages 3–6, created for families seeking a gentle, relationship-centered beginning to education. Rooted in Reggio Emilia philosophy, nature-based learning, and social-emotional development, this program honors early childhood as a sacred, foundational season. Our classroom is primarily outdoors at Hawk’s Nest in Jupiter Farms, where children learn through movement, sensory exploration, art, and connection to the land.
What Makes Little Hawks Different:

Nature as the Third Teacher
Little Hawks spend meaningful time outdoors each day.
Children climb, dig, build, gather, observe insects, notice weather patterns, and engage with the changing seasons. Outdoor learning supports:
-
Nervous system regulation
-
Balance and coordination
-
Confidence and body awareness
-
Sensory integration
-
Imaginative play
The land becomes familiar and comforting—a place of belonging.

Social-Emotional Foundations
Emotional literacy is woven into every part of our day.
Children practice:
-
Naming feelings
-
Waiting and turn-taking
-
Gentle conflict resolution
-
Listening and expressing needs
-
Participating in circle gatherings
We guide with co-regulation, modeling calm presence and helping children build internal tools for self-awareness and resilience.
We honor this by:
-
Allowing children to guide their own learning through curiosity and excitement
-
Integrating their interests into the curriculum — for example, a child learning to spell their name may inspire a group literacy activity
-
Welcoming personal items like favorite toys or books as gateways to meaningful lessons
This approach helps each child feel seen, valued, and respected as a contributing member of our community — a conscious, heart-centered learning space.
Art as Expression
In our preschool program, art is a language.
Children explore through:
-
Watercolor and mixed media
-
Clay and natural elements
-
Drawing and storytelling
-
Building and imaginative creation
There is no “right way” to create—only exploration and discovery.

Parent Coaching &
Family Integration
At Hawk’s Nest, we believe that the child’s growth is deeply connected to the well-being and awareness of the parent. Our Parent Coaching Program offers compassionate guidance and practical tools to help families cultivate peace, presence, and emotional connection both at home and within our school community.
Through one-on-one and small group sessions, parents learn to:
-
Support their child’s emotional development with mindfulness and empathy
-
Strengthen communication and cooperation within the family
-
Develop self-regulation tools that model calm and balance
-
Understand and respond to their child’s needs through a conscious, heart-centered approach
We also invite parents to participate alongside their children during certain school sessions,an opportunity to experience our curriculum firsthand. By learning together, families deepen their bonds and grow in harmony with the rhythms of the Earth. Our Parent Coaching Program is more than support, it’s an invitation to transform family life into a living practice of connection, compassion, and peace.
